Still very happy with my new Euro2000 E-61. I just made two double cappuccini that were great. Still a bit buzzed and sort of happy . I must agree with other E-61 owners reporting that consistency is one of the big advantages of these machines. I feel the espresso is richer in taste as [...]

Big congrats to Eirik who took the bronze in the WBC! He’s a great barista and a very nice guy.
Still trying to find some work in the coffee roasting business. It is pretty hard because there are very few roasters here in Norway and most of them just do big scale roasting. I’m interested in [...]

Sigh, I am so disappointed with the WBC website, and the USBC as well for that matter. No updates whatsoever. No pictures, scores, nada. Only real information is brought to us by Mark at the Coffeegeek site. Bless him.

Not much happening. Very hot here in Oslo right now, about 18 celsius in the shade. I’m so happy that the winter is over. It was so damn cold this year, especially since my apartment is pretty old with limited electricity for heating available. Don’t get me wrong, electricty is abundant here in Norway. It [...]

I’ve been spending quite some time on www.howstuffworks.com lately, reading about how two-stroke engines, stock exchanges, caffeine and lots of other things work. The explanations are very good, not getting into too much detail and ending up with a nice collection of links to explore. Definitely recommended.

Posted a review of the doserless Rancilio Rocky on Coffeegeek.
My conclusion is that you should buy the doser version instead. The doserless doesn’t add anything. It just removes the flexibility of grinding into a doser and adds some static problems.

Spring is definitely here. I’ve even started roasting again with my borrowed Alpenrost. I did three batches of Ottolina Maracaibo Top (pre-blend) some days ago. I roasted it into a definite second crack and got a nice result. 3-4 days later I’m getting beautiful shots, but they have a chemical aftertaste that I think comes [...]
